Favourite Makeup Brands: Charlotte Tilbury

If there’s one brand that’s captured my attention lately, it’s Charlotte Tilbury. I literally cannot find any flaws with any of the products I’ve tried from her line.

Here are a few favourites:

Film Star Bronze & Glow – this is much talked about among beauty fanatics and I caved in and bought it earlier this winter. It lives up to the hype. The highlighter is one of the best out there – finely milled and gives a perfect amount of glow that’s even appropriate for a 40+woman like me. The Bronzer can be used as a contour or a bronzer-and the effect is beautiful. For those with darker skintones, this may be a tad too light and I think  there is a deeper bronzer that might work better.

Coachella Coral Lipstick – this was part of my first purchase at Charlotte Tilbury when it launched at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. I still love it. It is one of the most beautiful bright corals out there that is not pink or orange. Just right. It fades to a very natural colour. Wear isn’t that long but it feels super comfortable on. I love Charlotte’s lipsticks.

The Golden Goddess Luxury Eye Palette – I just got sent this and I have to say it too lives up to the hype. Buttery smooth and easy to apply, I am in love. The neutral colours in this palette are right up my alley too.

And last but not least, the Cheek to Chic blush in Ecstasy, a beautifiul coral blush. What can say about CT blush other than you need one or two in your life. They are quite simply one of the most beautiful blushes available. You swirl around the outer colour and then tap the centre. I forgot and usually just swirl all around. It is smooth to apply and highly pigmented. A liight touch and you’ve got that glow from within that we all want to achieve.

This blush looks amazing paired with Coachella Coral lipstick, and that is what I wore today.

Charlotte Tilbury is one of those makeup lines that make you feel put together and sophisticated instantly. It’s worth a splurge now and then!

What have you tried from Charlotte Tilbury?

Now that was some blogging break!

Holy smokes, I knew it had been a while since I posted last but nothing since April? Is anyone reading this anymore? I hope so. I spent my break reflecting, regrouping and refocusing. Now I’m ready to reinvent LipstickRules – and myself. It’s a new day, and a new beginning and I hope you’ll join me on my journey!

LipstickRules: A New Look in the Works

Hey folks. Now that it’s spring, I felt it was time for a revamp of LipstickRules. I’ve been blogging for six years, and I feel like it’s time for another refresh. I wanted something clean and fresh and found this great template from 17th Avenue. Thanks to my blogging hero, Laura for the inspiration to change things up. It’s a work in progress so please bear with me as I continue to make adjustments.

I’ve got a few new posts up my sleeve as well.

Stay tuned!

MAC Viva Glam Miley

I’m not a Miley Cyrus fan by any means, but I am a fan of MAC’s Viva Glam lipsticks. Miley is this year’s celebrity spokesperson for Viva Glam and last week, the lipstick and  lipgloss were released. Of course, it was the hot pink lipstick I gravitated towards.

First Impressions: L’Oreal Paris Infallible ProMatte Foundation and Powder (review)

I haven’t had much experience with foundations sold at pharmacies/drugstores or supermarkets. Part of the reason is that I hate the experience of trying to choose the right colour. With no testers, how are you supposed to know what will work best? I’d rather not guess and just want to be able to feel the texture of the foundation before I commit. First world makeup problems, right?

LOrealSo when I received samples of the new L’Oreal Paris Infallible ProMatte Foundation and Powder, I was excited to try. The foundation is marketed as demi-matte and comes in nine shades.  I was sent 108 Caramel Beige, which unfortunately was too dark for my skintone. But no matter, I wanted to feel the texture and made it work.Continue Reading
