Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Catoure: Preview and First Impressions

Celebrity and makeup brand collaborations are becoming the norm it seems, and the majority of the time, I couldn’t care less. But this one from Covergirl and Katy Perry peaked my interest. Why? Well, truth be told. I’m a secret Katy Perry fan girl, err, fan woman (Who am I kidding? I’m no girl anymore ;-)) And this collaboration includes a lot of lipsticks, which as you know is my thing. So of course, I wanted to know more.

Available in May 2016, the Covergirl Katy Kat Collection includes 11 demi-matte lipsticks (even black!), plus a new mascara – in blue and black.

Look no makeup! ..And here are the products I used

You know I’m a believer in a statement lip. But even someone as dedicated to bright lipsticks as me, I do have some occasions where I feel it might just be a tad too much. Case in point, a family gathering in the great outdoors. A lazy day of eating, chatting and sitting around a picnic table didn’t seem like an occasion for a bright fuchsia lippie…and you know I’d wear a bright fuchsia just about anywhere and anytime.

Instead, I opted for a no-makeup makeup look. Yes, yes, I know that I could totally have gone barefaced. But what fun would that be for someone like  me?

Instead, I pulled out: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in medium, CoverFX BronzeFX in Golden Peach, Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint in Ample Amber, Clinique Chubby Stick in Mega Melon, MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder, and CoverGirl LashPerfection in Black.

You Light Up My Face: CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balm #250

There’s nothing like a bright lip colour to brighten my day. On this day, the colour of choice was a sheer red, #250 Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm.

Similar to the Clinique Chubby Sticks, the Gloss Balms look like thick lip pencils. They glide on like lipstick and offer the shine of gloss. This sheer red added the perfect amount of colour to waken up my makeup-less face. I think this colour is ideal for those who want to try wearing a red but aren’t ready to fully commit to a statement lip.

The product feels nice on my lips and I love the glossy shine. If you’re looking for a long-wearing product, however, this isn’t it. I find the Clinique products to last longer. These contain Shea and Mango butters so they feel very moisturizing. What I also love about this is that you don’t need to sharpen. Just simply twist up and you get more product.

Priced at about $9, these are a fantastic buy.

Have you tried the Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balms? Any colour recommendations?

Feeling ‘Cheeky’ thanks to Covergirl

I’m obsessed again, and it’s over a lipstick. Surprised? The lipstick is Covergirl’s Blast Flipstick in Cheeky. Have you seen these lipsticks before?

These Blast Flipsticks offer three colours for the price of one. On one end is usually a lighter colour (sometimes with shimmer), and on the other end is often a darker, more pigmented colour. You can wear each alone or layered.

Cheeky features a reddish orange and a light orange/coral. Mixed together, it creates a bright orange coral. I can’t decide which colour I love best out of the three though I do tend to gravitate towards the darker and brighter ones. Here are the three colours. From left to right, I feature the lightest colour on its own, the colours layered, and then the darker colour on its own.Continue Reading

Obsessed about…Orange!

I have a new love and it’s name is the Pippa, a bag by Modalu London. The one I was able to get my hands on is…orange! Yes, orange. I, the queen of black and grey purses, have ventured out of my comfort zone and embraced a bold bag just like I do with lipstick.

The moment I tried it on, it was love. Don’t you love how we try on bags? 😉

The bag has been dubbed the Pippa because Pippa Middleton has been spotted carrying it on several occasions in several colours. The bag is in high demand with waiting lists in the UK, US and now here in the Great White North. For me it is the perfect bag. It’s leather, it’s got structure and many pockets and zippers to stow all the lipstick I carry. Kidding. Sort of.  I love the pop of colour it gives to any outfit.  It’s become my statement bag though it seems to go well with almost any outfit, casual or workwear. It’s a bag you have to wear with pride….just like a bright orange lipstick!

Great segue to the topic of lipstick or what? 😉

When I got the bag, I instantly thought of my favorite orange lipsticks:

Covergirl Blast Flipstick in Stunner- on one end you have a bronzey orange tone and the other a brighter orange coral. Each lipstick can be worn on its own or blended together for a completely different look. I have a full review of this and other colours coming soon! Below I have worn it with both colours blended together.

MAC Crazee (below) – this is a reddish orange with a hint of shimmer. Absolutely stunning statement lip.

MAC Neon Orange – I’ve featured this before. This is indeed neon and orange and not for the faint of heart. You can dab it on for a less intense effect.

Will you be embracing orange?
