Ever have one of those where you think, “yah, that’s right. I’m rockin’ it today.” I’m kidding. Well, okay, sort of. I have to admit I felt quite good on this day — thanks to Rimmel’s Colour Rush Balm and Hourglass Ambient blush. This combination of bright pinks did wonders for the winter blahs I’ve been feeling. Putting on such bright colours added life to my face, and somewhat uplifted my soul. Yes, makeup can do that for me.
Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in Rumour Has It is a gorgeous bright pink. It was the one that grabbed my attention as soon as I saw it in the store. When I applied it on my lips, I had one of those moments, i.e. ‘oh my gee, this is freakin’ awesome!’ The balm is smooth to apply and lasted all day long. The product delivers high impact colour, and it doesn’t bleed or fade at all. It felt a teeny bit more dry than the Revlon Lacquer Balm or Matte Balm, but I can deal with it as the price point is fantastic. I paid around $6 for this.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Hourglass’ blush, priced at $41 Canadian. It is definitely a splurge but I couldn’t help myself. I had a moment of weakness. The makeup community has been a buzz over these new blushes and being a fan of the Ambient powders, I caved in and ordered from Sephora. I heard some of the blushes don’t deliver a lot of colour but this one is just perfect for me. It combines the Radiant Ambient powder with a bright fuchsia pink. It is pigmented, glides on beautifully and delivers such a luminous and beautiful glow.
