Makeup of the Day: Craving Ambition

With so much makeup on hand, I’m often asked how I ever decide on what to wear on a daily basis. Sometimes I take my cue from my outfit. Other times I take my cue from one particular product, while on other days, I take my cue from my mood, i.e. is it a bold lipstick day or a smokey eye kind of day? Today, I was inspired by two products while shopping my stash: MAC’s Craving lipstick and Illamasqua blush in Ambition.

Both are a berry/wine toned colour, which are typically considered Fall or Winter colours. I like to think that these colours could work all year round. Ambition (previously reviewed here) is a warm berry toned blush with a hint of gold shimmer. It reminds me a lot of NARS Sin, which is a staple in my collection. Ambition blends smoothly and gives a beautiful warmth to the skin.

Craving is quite complementary to Sin, almost exactly the same tone. It is new to me, and I can’t for the life of me understand why I never bought it before. It is a gorgeous berry that is a perfect every day colour. I also see this working in an evening look, paired with a dramatic eye. I love it!

To complete the look, I wore a wash of colour on my eyes,  and a little black liner.

What inspires your makeup of the day?

Craving is one of my all-time favorite MAC lipsticks! Such a gorgeous shade. I too love wearing it for night looks with a lightly smoky eye. :)
