In My Current Makeup Rotation: January edition

Happy Monday, everyone. I posted a pic of the following products on Instagram this weekend, and thought I’d share my thoughts about them with you here as well. These are some products that are currently in my makeup rotation, and what I used to create a very natural look the other day.

Naked Palette 3: I fell for the hype and ordered this baby right away. I’m sure you’ve read countless reviews of this already so I won’t go into too much detail. I do think it lives up to the hype in terms of how beautiful the colours are, the uniqueness of the rose-toned hues, and the great quality that we’ve come to expect from the Naked Palette line up from Urban Decay.  For me, however, after a couple weeks of use, I think I still prefer Naked Palette 2 and the original. Not sure the rose-gold tones are rocking my world. Just yet.

Hourglass Ambient Powder in Diffused Light: This is the second Ambient Powder I have, and I love it almost as much as Dim Light. Almost. This one is more of a yellow-toned powder and also does a great job at blurring imperfections and brightening the complexion. I still love Dim Light more but this comes a close second. I honestly think these powders are magic, and I’m already dreaming about which one I’ll add next to the arsenal.

Avon Perfect Brow Kit*: I ran out of my MAC Spiked eye brow pencil and came across this sample from Avon. The kit features a dark brown brow powder and a waxy product to help set brows. Love it. Makes it easy to define the brows and set them in place.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara*: The wand on this mascara is so unique. It’s tapered at the end gets thicker closer to the handle. I love, love, love this mascara. It works well to lengthen and define my sparse lashes. Too often, mascara brushes are too big for my lashes and this is just the perfect size. I don’t experience clumping and I love how long and defined my lashes are after I put this on. It’s definitely going to be one I repurchase.

Fresh Sugar Rose lip balm: I got this as a birthday gift last year at Sephora as a Beauty Insider perk. Love it. It has SPF, has a hint of colour and feels very comfortable and moisturizing on the lips.

Benefit Rockateur Blush*: This is a beautiful, beautiful blush. I can’t say enough about. The colour to me is quite unique, offering a bronzey rose glow to the cheeks. It deserves and will get its own review.

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation: I received a sample a couple of years ago, and I’ve been a huge advocate of this blush. It is one of the best. The sample I tried before was #127,  which was a great match. I ordered #140 because at the time, I couldn’t for the life of me remember what my colour was before. Not sure why I didn’t just do a search here on my blog. D’oh. #140 is for medium skin tones with dark yellow undertones, and I think works anyway. It gives me just the right amount of coverage, not too light, and not too heavy. You don’t feel like you’re wearing heavy makeup at all.  You actually still see your skin shine through still yet you still get this perfectly even skin tone. It also photographs beautifully.

So there you have it.  I’m wearing all of these products in this photo. Isn’t it amazing how many products you can use to look ‘natural’?

Have you tried any of these products? Any thoughts?

Love this Michelle, thanks for sharing! I got the MUFE HD Foundation for my wedding and the photos turned out beautiful with the airbrush finish!

Have you reviewed the Hourglass Ambient Powder? Would like to know more, is it an HD or setting powder?

I like my Dim Light a lot, but it’s not as much love as other bloggers have professed. LOL! I swatched Naked3 and thought some colours are nice. Didn’t buy it though… too many eye shadows, that’s for sure! Love the natural look you created here, Michelle :-) MUFE HD foundation is THE BEST foundation for flash photography. So flattering!

Hey Lily, Thank you! I too have too many eyeshadows yet I keep accumulating more and more. LOL. I agree about MUFE HD. One of the best ones out there for sure!

Love! I haven’t bought Naked 3 and don’t think I will. I’m pretty sure it won’t get used enough to justify purchasing it. I love MUFE HD-must use it more! But uggh foundation is so hard lately lol. Can you tell I’m having a hard time with makeup lately? ;)

I’m sensing rose gold is the theme here! I know it’s been MAJOR, but I don’t actually own anything rose gold yet! I have to take a look at the MUFE foundations. I know many rave about their formulas!

Yes, I agree (I want a rose gold watch LOL). The Benefit blush has a rosey tinge in my opinion but not overly so. The Naked Palette 3 is definitely rose-gold in tones. Like I said, I’m on the fence. You should try the MUFE – amazing.

Diffused Light seems to be a big hit. I think that will be my next Ambient powder if I buy one. I have the palette and adore Radiant Light. Dim Light is okay, but I have a feeling I’d prefer Diffused much more.

I think Radiant Light might be my next one. I think you would look great with Diffused Light :)
