Take a Look at “Yu” from NARS
Lip pencils disguised as lipsticks are popping up all around, from drug store to high end luxury brands. I can see why the trend is so hot. The pencil format provides us with the ability to control application yet still enjoy the textures that we love from glosses and lipsticks. I’m certainly a big fan. I’m also a die-hard fan of NARS, and when I heard about its Satin Lip Pencils, I had to investigate.
So investigate I did. I combed blog post after blog post, examining every swatch I could find. I also paid a visit to my local counters and swatched some more. I narrowed it down to two colours: Yu, described as a ‘shocking pink’, and Luxembourg, a gorgeous deep red.
Yu* is right up my statement lip alley. It’s such a bright and cheerful colour that I think could work on so many skin tones. It leans cool but I think I can pull it off.
Upon application, it doesn’t feel dry nor overly creamy — just right. Once on the lips, the colour is opaque but has a beautiful dimension to it. It’s got a sheen. And I have to say, this baby has staying power. It does leave a stain after, and I found I had to use makeover remover to remove the remnants of the colour at the end of the day.
All in all, I really enjoyed wearing this pencil. Definitely take a look at Yu, if you’re looking for a new statement lippie. Next up for me? I’ve got Luxembourg in my shopping basket online already.
Have you tried these pencils?
