Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup is Life-Changing. Seriously.
There are few makeup products that I would deem ‘life-changing.’ Giorgio Armani’s new Maestro Foundation is definitely one of them. It has become my go-to daily foundation since I got my hands on it in July. I have waited two months to post about it because I wanted to give it a proper run…and to be quite frank, it was hard to write about because it is so different and is so fantastic.
What I love most about it is that it doesn’t feel like foundation. It looks like regular foundation in the bottle but once you start applying, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever tried. Applying this is as close as you can get to makeup magic. Seriously.
I love how my skin looks when I wear this because it looks like my skin but better. Way better.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle was the eye dropper applicator — very unique for a foundation. You squeeze the top to get product and then apply (I use my fingers or a kabuki brush). I only need a small drop to cover the areas I want to cover. The fluid spreads very evenly over the skin. Blending is a dream. It literally feels like it disappears on your skin and suddenly my skintone is even and luminous. Sigh. The consistency is as thin as water but once on your skin it feels dry but is not drying.
It’s so difficult to explain — it’s definitely something that needs to be experienced in person.
I also like that it offers a Broad Spectrum SPF 15 — I wore this all summer and loved that it added that extra layer of sun protection. It never broke me out and coverage lasts all day. I’d highly recommend if you prefer high-end foundation and/or are looking for something that feels light but still gives coverage. Here’s a look at how it improves my skin: the before (no makeup), with the foundation, and the final look. Click to enlarge.
Available as of October at Holt Renfrew, the Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation is priced at $68 in Canada.
Have you come across a ‘life-changing’ product lately?

Holy moly $68 buckaroons? Looking at your glowing face though, I think it might be worth it.

Yes it is a splurge. I was lucky to get a sample to test but I will definitely repurchase!

This looks lovely on you, Michelle! I don’t think I can use this one (silicone sensitivities), but it looks seamless on your skin — really even and smooth, without losing that natural finish. <3!

It looks fantastic on you! I am loving it as well; I’ve been wearing it every day since I got it.

Yaay I’m glad to hear you enjoy this one as well! I think foundation has a bad name (some think it’s “heavy” “cakey” and so on), but this? This is lighter than air!
My recent life-changing products are bolder lipsticks. I never saw myself as someone who would enjoy playing my eyes down and lips up, but this is happening and I love every moment of it!

Hi Michelle – how is the colour range? Would you recommend it for more oiler skins?
Thanks!
Oct 08, 2012 @ 16:25:48
There are 12 colours I believe. I’m going to check for you re: oilier skins. This does have oil in it so I’m not sure.
Sep 26, 2012 @ 12:16:53
I really must try this foundation. Your skin looks flawless.. may I ask what shade you have?
Oct 08, 2012 @ 16:27:42
I’m 5.5 according to the bottle
For reference I’m usually an NC35-37 for MAC, a 040 with Chanel, and 127 for MUFE HD foundation.

Hi Michelle,
I can’t wait till this foundation hit my local store. I am not a huge fan of foundation as I always use my daily suncreen product. Too many people have been talking how good is this foundation which makes me want to try this so bad
Oct 08, 2012 @ 16:26:08
It is definitely a unique product in my books!

Love this post and am recently thinking about getting back into foundation and this sounds fabulous. And looks great on you!
Oct 08, 2012 @ 16:23:59
It is worth a try for sure Emi! I think you’d like it

Is it yellow based? It’s been challenging trying to find a yellow based foundation. I always end up with a pinkish face and yellow neck even if I was matched perfectly in the store. I have yet to find my HG foundation. I’ve tried shu Uemura, Chanel and even bobbi brown to no avail. I’m beginning to think I just need new skin LOL please help thanks!

Hey Lorraine, the colour I have is more neutral to yellow but that could be specific to the colour I have. I found that it blended perfectly. Might be worth checking out the full spectrum of colours at the counter to confirm!

I’m late to the party, but I wanted to thank you for the hi-res face picture – you have naturally good skin (mine’s quite similar), but it looks noticeably better in the “after” picture, and the foundation is COMPLETELY undetectable even with the maximum zoom!
I was on the fence with this foundation because of the price, and that one picture bought me. May I ask you for some other info? I’m not sure what MAC shade I am, maybe NW 30-35, combination skin, and my Revlon New Complexion is 04 natural Beige, do you think 5.5 is suitable for me?
Feb 07, 2013 @ 19:22:57
Hi Coco, The shade I have is 5.5 and it’s a really good match for my skin. Based on what you say you are with MAC, you may want a slightly lighter shade. I’d suggest checking it out at the counter — I haven’t seen the full colour range myself. I think you’d love this foundation – I still do!

Hi Mabel, That is where I thought this would be. Let me check with the PR team to confirm.
