Take it Off!
You know how much I love to put on makeup. I also love to take it off. Call me obsessive but I never, never go to bed with makeup on if I can at all help it. Today, I thought I’d share my makeup-removing essentials:
Live Clean Fresh Face Foaming Daily Cleanser: I was in the market for a new cleanser and wouldn’t you know it, this arrived on my doorstep. This cleanser is from Live Clean Fresh Face, a Canadian skin-care line that claims to be eco-friendly. I have been using this cleanser for the past month and a half and I love it. My skin is sensitive and this feels very gentle and non-drying. It does a really good job of removing makeup, however, I do tend to use makeup remover for my eye makeup before cleansing.
The product contains the company’s trademarked Botanical Orchid-C complex, which “harnesses the proven rejuvenating capacities of both Vitamin C and the orchid.” Additionally, the products are infused with certified organic botanicals including Lavender, Cucumber Chamomile, Milk Thistle, Aloe and Jasmine. The product is is free of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), a common harsh irritant petro-chemical surfactant used in most shampoos and skin care products, as well as Diethanolamine (DEA), a common ingredient used for rich lather and viscosity building. This product along with the entire line is also free of parabens, completely vegan and phospate-free! I am looking forward to trying other products from the line. These are available at Wal-Mart and Shopper’s Drug Mart across Canada. More info is here: www.Live-Clean.com.
Cover-Fx Makeup Cleansing Mousse (Sensitive Face & Eyes): I have had this product for over a year and it is one of my favorite products of all time. Why? It is the jack-of-all trades when it comes to makeup removal and cleansing. It does it all! It can be used as a makeup remover or it can be used as a cleanser as well. The mousse formula is light-weight and gentle, yet it doesn’t strip or dry the skin. As for makeup removal, it’s fantastic at removing every trace of makeup, even long-wearing and water-resistant makeup. I love bringing it when I travel. Available online at CoverFx.com or wherever CoverFx is sold near you.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O micelle solution: This is another multi-tasking product. Sensibio H20 is a gentle cleanser and makeup remover which is suitable for sensitive skin. It is fragrance and alcohol free. The first item on its ingredients list is water which was a positive sign for me. It is very gentle on the skin and feels so light. You simply add product to cotton balls and apply to your face to remove your makeup. For me, it only takes one or two cotton balls to remove everything. My face always feels squeaky clean and not dry. This is probably the most gentle solution I’ve ever used in my lifetime. In Canada, this is available at Shopper’s Drug Mart.
I obviously don’t use all three at once but I do interchange them frequently. They all do a fantastic job, and I love having the options!
Over to you, are you religious when it comes to makeup removal?

I love my Bioderma! But I’ve just tried the Nuxe Micellar Cleanser and I love it too! Now I am torn haha!
And that’s it-getting the CoverFX one for when I travel now. I hate taking too many products when on holidays and this sounds perfect.

I’m totally checking out the Nuxe this weekend. The CoverFx is great to have on hand for sure!

Ooooh… I love the Live Clean line, but I haven’t tried that cleanser yet! I am in the market for a new cleanser as well. I keep trying to find a “cleaner” cleanser than Philosophy Purity Made Simple that I would fall in love with, but so far, nothing has come close.
Michelle, get the NUXE mini set for $15 with the cleanser Tracy is talking about.
Then you’ll get to smell the diving Huile Prodigieuse. Mmmmmm.

Give this one a try – you might likey! I’m investigating Nuxe this weekend!

step 1: I always start with Bioderma and it is a favorite of mine, but to be sure I follow with another makeup remover and guess what, there’s a lot of makeup left.
step 2: I alternate with Vichy 3 in 1, Origins checks and balances or Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract.

Thanks Manon! I found the Bioderma works for me both ways – on its own or with another product to follow. Only difference is how many cotton balls I use.

I got the $15 Nuxe set and I haven’t tried it yet! I need to
Bioderma Crealine is so expensive here! It seriously pains me to pay $22 for 200 ml when it’s like, 9 euros for the same amount. I feel slightly less bad when I use my shoppers points to buy them though =P

Let me know what you think of the Nuxe! The Bioderma is a bit pricey but I think it is worth it

I’m dying to try the Bioderma Sensibo solution. I didn’t realise you had to use cotton balls – interesting! I’m ocd when it comes to cleansing makeup – I go with a 3 step process with Shu Uemura Cleansing oils (HG) and IPSA Cleansing Foam (another HG) , then with Diorsnow Toner with a cotton pad. This process made me break out less and makes all that effort worthwhile!

Hey Tracy, I’m not really sure if you are supposed to use cotton balls. I do. LOL.
Jul 20, 2012 @ 19:23:38
I think the cotton balls help kind of ‘scrub’ off the makeup, otherwise I don’t think the makeup would actually go anywhere. I guess you could also cleanse again after to make sure it’s gone

I keep hearing about Bioderma, but still haven’t tried it. I am still loving The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil set though. I’m obsessive about taking it all off too!

So glad to hear I’m not alone Alison!

Ooo I have way too many cleansers hoarded up at the moment, but I’m definitely going to have to try the Live Clean and CoverFX.
I’m using Marcelle Hydra-C foaming cleanser right now, and Marcelle Soothing Water to remove non-waterproof makeup/their dual-phase remover for waterproof.
