Death of a Lipstick: My Viva Glam Cyndi
I am mourning the loss of one of my most beloved lipsticks, MAC’s Viva Glam Cyndi. She’s not completely gone but she ain’t pretty anymore.

I have had VG Cyndi since it was released a couple years back. Quite frankly, like many a lipstick I covet and acquire, it ended up in a pile and didn’t get much attention. Sometimes I would ‘rediscover’ it in my collection and proclaim my love for it again. (link)
It happened again recently when I started to wear it weekly. But something happened along the way. VG Cyndi started to get softer and softer until finally…sppplaaaat. The actual lipstick fell off, and almost into my bathroom sink. Luckily I was able to catch it but in doing so, it got a little bit mangled. It got even worse when I tried to put it back in the tube. Disaster. Total disaster.
I know I can salvage it a bit and use a lip brush to apply. But it’s not the same.
I am kicking myself for not buying a back-up. Why didn’t I listen to myself when I had a chance? (link)
I am at a loss. And sad. Unless MAC releases it again, I’m now officially on the hunt for a Viva Glam Cyndi dupe.
Can you help? What do you suggest?

Go check out the MAC threads on LiveJournal. VG Cyndi shows up there quite regularly and sometimes it’s even at a decent price (although sometimes it’s marked WAY up)

OH NO!!! I’d be so sad too. Clarins Jolie Rouge Poppy Red is pretty close! It’s not as sheer though. L’Oreal Infallible Rouge #421 Charismatic Coral is also close.

Ugh that is a tragedy! I use mine heinously sparingly which doesn’t make any sense in real life, but I’m just too attached to the shade … and like you I didn’t buy a back up. Is there any way you could depot what remains while you hunt for another?

OMG. So sorry to hear…. maybe you could melt it into a pan? A lot of people seem to be depotting their lipsticks to make it more travel friendly? May be the better option as opposed to trying to apply it straight from the tube >.< If not, i hope you find another way to salvage it :'(

Have you tried “Ultra Darling” by MAC? It is one of the sheen supreme lipsticks

Oh noooo! I wonder why that happened. Do you think it’s the weather?
Is it possible to melt it somehow and remold it in an eyeshadow pan? That way you can use your lip brush to put it on. I think I’ve seen some tutorials out there that teach people how to do this.

Oh no…what a sad end to Cyndi…Well at least you enjoyed her company for sometime. Here in India, it’s been out of stock for ages

Perhaps you could place it in a jar and then use from there. That’s what I do with some of my finishing colors.

this is my favourite colour! I got it in a gloss because I know I’m more a gloss person. I wonder how the lipstick and the lipgloss will differ. and yes, this is seriously beautiful! (i wont go into suggesting methods since i think they were pretty much all mentioned in the above comments =P)
