A Blog Post about Nothing…
Remember Seinfeld – and how it described itself as the show about nothing? I have to say this blog post is about…nothing. Who doesn’t love a case of writer’s block?
Serves me right for being so smug this weekend. You see, I spent hours swatching, product testing and photo-taking, my own makeup heaven. I was in full blog face mode taking photo after photo. I was so proud of myself.
But when it finally came down to writing…Nada. Not inspired.
So if it’s okay with you, I thought I’d ramble on about what rocked my world last week…and I hope to be back in full force tomorrow.
What Rocked My World
Blue-based bubblegum pink lipsticks: I am loving JlovesMac1 on Youtube and she’s inspired me to wear more blue-based bubblegum pink colours. These colours have never been go-to colours for me but for some reason I’m really digging the look now. FOTDs to come!
Accessories: My husband got me the Femme Fatale necklace from Stella and Dot for my birthday! My begging hints worked! I also purchased a turquoise beaded necklace and a brooch from Stella and Dot, which I love. I need more accessories in my life. (I have a Stella and Dot giveaway coming up — stay tuned!)
Straight Hair: I am in the middle of testing out a Hana Professsional Flat iron (review to come). I can’t believe how long my hair looks once straightened. My cowlick is a bit annoying though.
Teased Hair: Along with liking straight hair, I’m also liking BIG hair. I’ve been teasing my hair a bit more too — loving the volume it creates.
Mixing foundation with highlighter: I’ve been mixing NARS Orgasm cream highlighter with my foundation (NARS Sheerglow or MUFE HD Foundation). It gives such a lovely glowy effect
What’s coming up this week
Statement lips: I haven’t been into reds lately as you know but good old Yves and Giorgio have helped me jump back into statement lips like there’s no tomorrow. Wait till you see these lippies. Hawt.
New MAC goodies: I haven’t been excited about MAC products in a while but there’s a few products that have been rocking my world lately
BB Creams: It’s all over the blogsphere and I’ve tested one so far from Marcelle. Stay tuned!
Do you ever get writer’s block?

I love the teased hair. It looks so lustrous and shiny, and your highlights are almost blue.

Thanks Zuzu! I actually don’t have highlights…no colour in my hair. All black minus a few Greys here and there

Sorry, I meant you hair’s natural highlights! Healthy, shiny, black hair often has that bluish light emanating from it. I had embedded a *jealous* tag at the end, but WordPress stripped it, apparently–the nerve!
Do you freak out a little when you back come your hair?
Feb 06, 2012 @ 12:31:45
LOL – thanks! I do freak out a little…but I freaked out even more this morning when I noticed more grey hair around my temples! I might need to dye my hair soon enough!

The hair looks great – I love the volume!

Thanks Jamilla!

You look lovely in these pictures! I have quite the nasty cowlick in the same spot on my hair. I’ve trained my hair to part on the opposite side so I can (sort of) have bangs. My trick to straightening is to avoid the cowlick altogether and just straighten under it. And yes, hair as short as mine can still benefit form a straightener. I guess it’s more of a smoothing tool now XD I’m anxiously awaiting your upcoming posts!

Thanks Alison! The cowlick got progressively worse throughout the workday. LOL. I will try your straightening trick

Your hair is awesome! And those necklaces are amazing!
Oh yeah, I get blocks. In fact I haven’t really written anything for a few days now.
Feeling a bit uninspired lately. But I’ve been wearing 2 new Edward Bess products and think I’m getting my groove back!

i get writers block all the time- all the time. which is sad bc blogging is slightly therapeutic for me, so when i’m not inspired to talk/share about anything, it annoys me:) i just got a sample of a bb cream, and guess i need to bust it out and try it bc it seems to be all the rage right now! i have an annoying cowlick too btw- but i can’t see yours in your pic, your hair looks fabulous!!
Feb 08, 2012 @ 20:03:12

I always have writers block. So much so that I have more things stuck in my head than I can actually get out on the computer! The necklaces are gorgeous!

Thanks Elaine! Sometimes I have ideas and then once I start writing they disappear. Other times though I’m a writing machine. I guess we all go through waves eh?
