Picture perfect?
It still cracks me up every time I take my picture for my blog. I do it in my living room by a big bay window, with my living room curtains behind me as a backdrop. I’m sure many a neighbour has wondered what the heck I’m doing.
I also get right into what my husband calls ‘blog face’ mode. You know it all too well if you blog — it’s your go-to look for the camera. Smile or no smile, we all have that look. Admit it.
It also cracks me up after when I see just how many pictures I’ve taken. I take a minimum of 20 to 30 shots just to get a picture or two I like to use for a post. Call it blogger OCD.
So getting that picture perfect look for a blog post? It’s a lot of work….and it’s fun. Who’s with me?

I know what you mean! I like going outside, and I’m pretty sure all my neighbours think I’m sone kind of freak.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:21:37
Which of course, I am.
I just didn’t want THEM to know.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:22:59
LOL – same with me Tracy! LOL
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:38:06
I am laughing so hard! I had this EXACT same thought yesterday when I was taking a photo for a FOTD I want to post next week. I was like I wonder how many photos I really take to get just a few – I’m probably close to 20 too! And then I analyze them even though there is the most minute difference between them. Hahaa, gotta get the best one! You are a brave girl for posting them all, and you are definitely not alone. Thanks for the laugh.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:58:45
Thanks Michelle! I was laughing too when I was putting this together.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:52:21
I am definetly on you with this. I take my shots by my bay window and sometimes my husband likes to bother me on purpose cause he knows I don’t like it when he looks at me when I’m taking blog pics.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:59:38
My husband does that too
My kids though take it in stride – guess they are used to mommy posing by the window. LOL.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 15:56:53
I don’t like to see my face on photo, but I know I should do some efforts. I need to practice.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 16:00:23
I was the same way when I started blogging Manon. It does take some getting used to but once you start, it gets easier and funnier too
Jan 06, 2012 @ 16:19:46
Same here! I face my office window upstairs!
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:21:56
I did it once at the office but got too freaked out that someone might walk in. LOL.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 16:35:57
This is too true! I love your mini pics, so cute
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:22:09
Thanks Alison!
Jan 06, 2012 @ 16:36:39
LOL, I took a load today and I don’t think one of them will make the cut
. Talking of neighbours looking on, I take my pictures at the back of my house and always wondered what the people who spy me thought. I’ll finally find out now as the woman who lives behind is going to be a work colleague. That’s if I dare broach the subject!
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:23:13
I have a bunch that never made the cut too. Sometimes if I’m desparate I’ll just crop my lips or eyes. I think you should ask the woman when she starts working with you!
Jan 06, 2012 @ 16:47:43
Oh my gosh. LOL! So funny!
My window faces the main street and I used to have blinds so I just open them enough for light to come through but for my neighbours not to see me.
I’m also trying a new thing this year where I’m trying to learn to smile with my eyes. So far, it’s not going too well. Remember, deer in the headlights? Hahahah!
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:23:35
I loved your pic lady! I really did
Jan 06, 2012 @ 17:03:04
Yeah, I know the feeling
. And of course the face. It’s so funny lol.
Jan 06, 2012 @ 19:36:13
i can completely understand the feeling..even i take soo many pics…my friends feel i m crazy…but they cant understand that its a blogger thing….
Jan 06, 2012 @ 21:30:09
I’m with you girl! I take about 20 outfit photos just to get a few good ones
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:28:17
Your photos are always fab Veronika!
Jan 06, 2012 @ 22:02:15
Haha I can relate to this! One day I was taking product pictures outside on my porch (because the lighting was better there) and I saw my neighbor across the street looking confused. I also have my “blog-face” and my boyfriend likes to point that out too XD
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:29:22
LOL. I’ve seen neighbours walking their dogs and I’m sitting there sometimes posing. Sometimes I pretend to be looking at my camera as if something is wrong or I’m checking it.
Jan 07, 2012 @ 00:18:29
haha, i definitely can relate to this. I take pictures by open windows as well, and I know my neighbour has caught me one too many times. I have to take a ton of photos just to get one good one to post! I’d say per FOTD I average about 50 shots *hangs head in shame*
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:27:52
We are all so alike Cheryl! It’s kind of funny isn’t it?
Jan 07, 2012 @ 01:43:52
Literally a LOL. I just did the same thing, 30 shots and I hated all of them. So I cropped it down to my eyes. LOL. Glad I am not the only one wondering what the neighbours must think!
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:27:22
Thanks! I crop pics too!
Jan 07, 2012 @ 01:52:45
HAHAHA omg. you are so right. I’m kinda glad my bf hasn’t noticed my ‘blog face’ mode! I think I take a lot more than 20-30 face shots when I’m reviewing something ON my face… it makes me seem so Asin and cam whorey! haha Slightly scared to look at all the photos I’ve had to take just to get the ‘right’ one! I love all the photos you’ve taken, there’s a lot of variations with your blog face ^^
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:26:50
I actually have to back through Picassa and delete some pictures. Taking up too much space on my hard-drive. LOL.
Jan 07, 2012 @ 04:15:51
“blog face mode” lol! i do the same too! i can only take lots and lots of photos when i have time.
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:25:56
I think we are all very similar
Jan 07, 2012 @ 13:08:57
20 to 30 i say ur doing just fine…mine goes upto 50 to 80..
I have a picture face too
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:25:37
Hi Ruhi, I’ve done 5o but maybe not 80
Jan 09, 2012 @ 10:16:28
And the older you get, the MORE pictures you need to take to get one good one!
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:24:18
Hey Janet, I hear you. I’m no spring chicken anymore, hence all the pics I feel I have to take. LOL.
Jan 09, 2012 @ 19:06:44
I found your blog through our mutual friend, Tracy, and I’m so glad I did! Ok…I almost had to go pee reading this! “Blog face”!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s exactly what my husband called it recently as well!! Only, I’m too chicken (and cold – Montreal winters aren’t the easiest!) to go outside — as well as show my complete face (middle name: vanity), especially now that I’m not in my 20′s anymore (or 30′s either, for that matter!). As to the blogger OCD, I hear you there: I have been known to take upwards of 45 pictures then spend way too much time poring over them to find THE shot….talk about overkill! Thanks for this – nice to know I’m not alone, lol!
Jan 09, 2012 @ 20:25:00
Hello Eugenia! Nice to meet you. You are definitely not alone. Look forward to getting to know you!
Jan 10, 2012 @ 00:07:40
hilarious and very relatable post!!! i live in a two story town house and take many of my pics upstairs (because we all know it’s all about the lighting) and i jump everytime i see a neighbour walk past or think ‘quick quick, must take this photo before another one comes’. nonetheless it is super fun, and when i finally get THE photo .. it is very rewarding, even if the neighbours think i’m a little odd.
Jan 11, 2012 @ 22:11:56
you are a trip, seriously. this totally hits home, bc i take a million pics, only to use 2 or 3. and they usually end up all looking the same with the same face i always make!! ha!!!
