Last minute stocking stuffers: Lip Balms!
It’s winter in Canada, though thankfully in my part of the country there is no snow…yet. When the cold weather hits, my lips go desert dry. I’m always in need of lip balms during this season which I tend to slather on before I go to bed. Very attractive indeed.
I’m happy to discover though that there are new lip balms in town that are functional (i.e. moisturize!) and also offer a little somethin’ somethin’ to encourage someone like me to wear during the day. So here are the three lip balm-type products that I’m loving right now, which I think would also make for great last-minute gifts.
eos Lip Balms are one of my new addictions this winter, and the Holiday Lip Balm Collection has my name written all over it. Aside from the cool packaging, the eos lip balms are also:
- 95% USDA Certified organic formula
- 100% Natural
- Enriched with nourishing shea butter and soothing jojoba oil
- Petrolatum-free, paraben-free, gluten-free
- Provide long lasting moisture for sensationally soft and smooth lips
- Not tested on animals
These little spheres are just the cutest, aren’t they? The Holiday kit, priced at $9.99CAN, features the following ‘flavours’: new Strawberry Sorbet, celeb, and also my favorite Sweet Mint and Limited Edition Passion Fruit. These are very smooth to apply, don’t feel heavy on the lips nor do they have any colour. I think these are fab to pop in your purse,or have by your bed side table to layer on before sleeping.
If you want a little bit more colour from your lip balms, you have to give Maybelline’s Baby Lips a try. This is being marketed as 8-hour moisture for the lips, and supposed to give you baby soft lips in 4 weeks. I haven’t worn it that long but I have to say I’m a believer. Baby Lips is amazing. I tried two colours: Peach Kiss and Pink Punch.
The colours are super subtle, nice for those who don’t like to wear to much on their lips and a great alternative for us girls who often sport bold and bright listicks. They are very comfortable to wear, not heavy at all. They also have a refreshing fruity scent that is not overpowering.
The final lip balm I want to share with you is from Lip Fusion, a splurge-worthy balm. Priced at $24, the LipFusion Balm Tinted Lip Conditioning Stick is super moisturizing. The tube I tried looks like a flaming red lipstick but don’t let it fool you. The tint is super subtle so there’s no need to fear here ladies who might be shy about lip colour. There are other colours available too, and I suspect they are equally as subtle.
The balm has SPF 15, which I think is a great feature. It also has ingredients designed to moisturize, protect, and plump the lips immediately upon application — and long-term. Sounds cool eh? I’m not sure about the plumping effects nor the long-term effects as I haven’t tried for that long. And in all honesty, the plumping effect isn’t top of mind for me given my already plump lips. I can attest that as soon as you put this on, your lips feel moist and supple. Kissable lips. And oh yes, it is minty which again I’m a fan of. I’d definitely purchase additional colours from the line.
Do you have any favorite lip balms? And more importantly, are you done your shopping?

Great post. Those little EOS spheres are super adorable.
I love the Fresh Sugar tinted lip balms for daytime, on days when my lips feel too dry for lipstick. For night, my personal favorite clear lip balm is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lip butter. It’s a thick balm that comes in a squeeze tube in two scents/flavors: Dark Chocolate & Cherry and Dark Chocolate & Peppermint. Both scents are amazing; I own both, and I’m actually on my second tube of the dark chocolate & peppermint one. And it’s slightly glossy and super moisturizing. Not sure if it is available in Canada but it really is great and cheap.

My favourite scent of the eos balm is also the minty one – refreshing!
Now I’m curious about the Maybelline Baby Lips… not that I really need more lip balms!
My current favourite lip balms are: Vasanti tinted lipbalm, and Tokidoki lip balm stains. The Vasanti is very moisturizing and comfy to wear, and the Tokidoki is just so darn cute and I also love the way they leave a nice even stain on my lips.

Out of all of these the red Lip Fusion is my favourite for its texture, tint and SPF. I thought I’d lost the one I have and it made me so sad! Found it, though, and have a backup — yay!
I like Baby Lips (as well as SPF 20, it contains centella asiatica, one of the ingredients in my must-have-it Cicaplast healing ointment), but find that I need to reapply sooner than I like. Same thing with Eos, although they’re darned cute. Fresh Sugar is another favourite, but they’re sensitive to heat — don’t keep it in your jeans pocket, or they’ll be a bit mushy to apply!
