12 Days of Lipstick: Lancome, MAC, and Covergirl

I had the best intentions. 12 lipsticks in 12 days. Oh yes, that was the plan. Alas, it was not meant to be this week. Instead, shall we try for a recap?

Lancome Rouge In Love #181N, a beautiful red that seems to lean towards orange-red for me. This lipstick is part of Lancome’s Rouge In Love collection inspired by actress Emma Watson set to launch in February 2012.  There are 24 colours launching, divided up into three main categories: Jolis Matins (for mornings you want colour but nothing too bold); Boudoir Time (palette of colours that take you into the late afternoon); and finally Tonight is My Night (intense shades with gold particles, perfect for a night out or when you want to make a bold statement). Number 181N falls in the last category, which is quite appropriate.  It is a true statement lip, and it makes me feel instantly sophisticated when I put it on.  The lipstick feels ultra comfortable on the lips, and lasts on lips for about six hours. Beautiful! I can’t wait to see the other colours in the collection.

MAC’s Girl about Town is one of those lipsticks you hear about a lot in the beauty blogging world. It entered my life this year, and I’m glad it did. I wore it upon the request of my friend Simone who challenged me to wear something bold and bright. Girl About Town is certainly bold and bright, and not for the faint of heart if you wear it in its full glory. I admit I felt it was too bright for a day at the office so I dabbed some of it off to create more of a stain effect. Much better I thought. I’ll save the bold for a day out shopping or a holiday party.

The next two lipsticks I wore this week were Covergirl Lip Perfections.  I like the formulation of these lipsticks, very creamy and smooth to apply. They have a high-end feel but are quite affordable priced under $10.  Siren caught my attention first.  I guess I was feeling the bold lipsticks this week.  Siren is a bright blue-based pink but I think it’s wearable for warm skin tones like mine.

The next lipstick is Fervor, which is actually my favorite of the two. It looks dark in the tube, reminding me of lipsticks I used to wear in the 1990s. On the lips though, it is a different story. This is almost a wine coloured red that is saturated with colour. It is rich in tone, and just lovely in my opinion.

How was your week in terms of lip colours — did you wear the same colour all week or did you switch it up?

On another note, did you know I have a Facebook page? I’d love it if you Liked it  as I have some plans to do some more updates there in 2012.
