Say Hello!
Hello LipstickRules readers: it’s time to get to know each other. I know a core group of you who comment regularly, but I know there are more that don’t. I would love it if you could indulge me and comment today.
Whether you’re new to the blog or old to this site, I would LOVE it if you left me a note below and tell me something about yourself. If you have a blog, include the link and tell me about it and I will check it out. If you don’t that’s okay too. Tell me something about yourself like where you’re from, what makeup product you love — anything goes! I would also appreciate feedback on what you think of LipstickRules — what you’d like to see more of or less of for that matter.
Okay, over to you….

Hello,
I think you know me already, but I lurk. I dont comment as much as I should, but I think yours was one of the first few blogs I found when I started blogging! It’s a great blog xx
Nov 16, 2011 @ 18:44:48
Hey Emma, yes I know you
thanks for all the support. I owe you a blog post still!
Nov 16, 2011 @ 18:41:41
hi, i read – i follow you through google reader. i don’t have a blog. i may have commented before, but i don’t comment often.
my favorite mascara of all time is maybelline one by one volume express. my favorite brush is the benefit get bent brush, which i think is discontinued. i love bright lips too!
Nov 16, 2011 @ 18:46:07
Hi Emi! Good to hear from you and love that you love bright lips. Any faves?
Nov 16, 2011 @ 18:44:38
hello!!!
i am from new zealand so don’t have access to some of the brands you talk about but i still enjoy reading!
i have been following your blog for a while now but only commented a few times

thanks for this blog!
ingrid x
Nov 16, 2011 @ 18:47:21
Hi Ingrid, I do remember that you’ve commented before. MAC is one of my faves too.
Nov 16, 2011 @ 19:06:14
Hi! I have followed your blog for a long time. I used to be a beauty blogger, but gave it up to focus on paper crafting and art(and blogging about it). I still love makeup, though! I love trying new brands, especially indie mineral makeup companies. I am a sucker for limited edition collections. I love MAC lip products. Right now my favorite is Oversexed Plushglass.:) I’ve always enjoyed your blog. I love seeing your different looks and reading your opinions on products. I’m really bad about commenting, though. Sorry about that!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:52:56
Hi Laura, I’m totally going to check out your blog! Thank you so much for your support.
Nov 16, 2011 @ 19:11:20
Hi! I’ve been following your blog for a few months now. I enjoy your reviews and especially love that you’re from Canada. I don’t have a blog-I just enjoy following other’s blogs. One thing about me is that I LOVE lip gloss. I can’t seem to get enough of it! I think it may be a bit of an addiction
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:53:39
Thank you! What is your favorite lipgloss? I’m a bit addicted to NARS Bad Education right now.
Nov 16, 2011 @ 19:16:45
This is such a great idea! I have been following your blog for sometime now and I just love how wonderful you are at interacting with everyone and making this a personal and helpful blog! I started blogging regularly about a year and a half ago and it has become a true passion of mine! I am an actor, but on the side I do a lot of web design, logo creating and just graphic design in general, which I also love along with anything creative on top of finding affordable fashions!
Liesl
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:54:43
Thanks Leisl. Very cool! I’m totally going to check out your blog.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:55:25
I mean Liesl. Sorry – it has been a long day
Nov 16, 2011 @ 19:37:49
I love this post Michelle
what a lovely way to engage everyone!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:54:53
Thanks Veronika!
Nov 16, 2011 @ 19:38:27
Hi Michelle
I have really enjoyed reading your blog for the past year. You combine information on new products with a lovely dash of personal style and flair! Thanks for all the work that you put into doing this. I have always loved makeup and fragrances and have found some wonderful products and also avoided many that do not live up to their implied promises thanks to you.
I live in Vancouver and one of my favourite places to go to is the perfume shop in Sinclair Centre. The owner is delightful.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:56:25
I love Vancouver Catherine. I visited once and would love to go back. Thanks for all your support.
Nov 16, 2011 @ 20:28:57
Hello! I always on-and-off read blogs, but have never really commented… I want to start getting into the blogging world again! I recently (very recently) started blogging. I’m also thinking of doing reviews of makeup items as well, but am not sure.
Hope you’re doing well

Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:57:08
I will check out your blog. Thanks for saying hello!
Nov 16, 2011 @ 21:16:06
Hi Michelle! I’m new here and am glad I was introduced to your blog via the Lipstick Bandits! My quota of Canadian blogs just multiplied many times over since getting to know all you lovely ladies. Needless to say, I’ll be surfing around and staying around
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:57:52
Hi! I took a peek at your blog too — will be visiting often!
Nov 16, 2011 @ 21:35:30
Hi Michelle,
I’ve been following your blog for quite some time now… but I don’t leave comments very often. I truly enjoy your reviews, and quite a number of them had me sold on a product… no regrets when I did purchase it either
I started to beauty blog about a year ago, with no clear concept in mind… it was just an outlet when I felt a bit overwhelmed in my life… I enjoy doing it, and so I’ve continued.
I learned so much from bloggers like yourself… looking forward to all your future posts
Lucy (www.limitedlucy.blogspot.com)
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:58:54
Hi Lucy, I read more blogs than I actually comment. If I did, it would be hours and hours of ‘work.’ I’m totally going to come and pay a visit to your blog – thanks for including the link!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 00:31:17
I love your lipstick reviews. You inspired me to try bolder lipsticks and now I wear red lips almost exlcusively. My favorite lipstick is Chanel Rouge Allure in Flamboyante though I am currently having a moment with Chanel Rogue Allure Laque in Empire.
I don’t have a beauty blog though I have been know to waste waay too much time on tumblr.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 21:59:37
Hi Anna,
I’m so pleased to hear that! I’m going to have to check out those Chanel colours. I’m a bit of a Chanel lipstick addict
Nov 20, 2011 @ 18:32:57
Chanel lipsticks are my favorite formula, and I have tried ALOT of lipsticks!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 01:18:42
Hi Michelle,
I’m don’t visit as often as I should but when I do you always manage to put a smile on my face. You don’t know this but I learn a lot from you. You taught me that it’s not the number of followers you have but to just focus on content and the fact that I’m doing a blog because I want to regardless if I have 3 people or 100 people reading.
I am a wife, mother to a 3yr old girl and I live in the Bay Area, CA. Although, I don’t blog often as I like because I am so damn tired by the time I put my daughter to bed and I work 8hrs a day. I still manage to muster through it and I also do a guest post for http://www.missomnimedia.com – a highlight for me was to have a Chanel foundation review posted on the La Chanelphile blog.
Keep up the awesome job!!
Alexis
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:00:21
Thanks Lexi- you are always so supportive. Your days sound like mine. I’m going to check out your posts.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 01:29:01
i love reading your blog! i comment occasionally only, but i read every post. i really love your reviews, and seeing how you do your makeup. my name is micaela, and my blog link is http://mybeadifullife.blogspot.com
since i started blogging, i have really started to branch out with my makeup, try new brands, and try new looks. i use to only wear lip gloss, but i have been trying out wearing lipstick at least once a week.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:01:06
Hi Micaela, thanks for commenting here. I am excited to check out your blog — and am glad to hear you are venturing into lipstick!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 01:57:27
Justine from Productrater, I comment now and then, but read more than I comment of course. I am from Toronto. I love dewy foundations made for dry skin (although I keep using matte ones here and there that are not suited for me at all), peach blushes and pink lipsticks and colour nail polish.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:01:46
Hey Justine, I know you visit here often
I love many similar things — have you found a favorite foundation?
Nov 17, 2011 @ 02:36:37
I read and comment seldom. I’m originally from Calgary, but attending school in Vancouver at the moment. I have a blog and I am a blush and lipstick fiend. My name is Shivani, btw
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:02:10
Hi Shivani – will check out your blog! thanks for commenting
Nov 17, 2011 @ 02:48:48
I recently started blogging and love reading others’ blogs, comments, etc.

I will check it out – thanks!

^^ I’ve been a follower of your blog for a long time now, I do visit here every time you have a new post, but I don’t comment on your posts as much as I should…hehe (lazy me). I’m from Philippines.
I love your blog, simply because you talk about beauty and cosmetics. As a fellow beauty blogger, it’s interesting to see and learn about new products in the market especially ones that we don’t have here in Philippines.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:03:14
Hi Hollie! I was born in the Philippines. Moved here when I was very young. I appreciate your support and love that you commented here!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 04:47:20
I confess? I’m a lurker! But that’s partly because I read blogs via my
Phone which doesn’t always cooperate when I want to leave people comments
I will try to make more of an effort though because I always love receiving comments so should definitely be giving more out myself!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:05:23
Hello lurker! LOL. I lurk alot too so don’t worry. I follow so many different kinds of blogs that it’s hard to comment. Thank you for your support
Nov 17, 2011 @ 04:50:06
This is a nice idea! So often I read things and don’t comment, either through lack of time, or not having anything useful to say apart from “Looks lovely!” But I would rather get “Looks lovely!” on my blog than nothing – so I should try to comment more!
Okay – hi! I am fairly new to your blog, but I am enjoying it, all the posts I have read recently seem good humoured, which I like – I like to see a writer having a laugh and not taking things too seriously!
I live somewhere in the middle of England, but I come from up North, I love my family and my cat and Urban Decay and formula 1! My favourite make up item is the Chanel lipstick in Perle which I wore for my wedding a month ago.
My blog is powderedalmond.blogspot.com and twitter is @powderedalmond.
Hope you get lots of lovely responses on here and chat to you soon!
xxx
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:06:36
Hello! Thank you so much. I feel the same way about comments so no worries. I am going to pay a visit to your blog very soon
Nov 17, 2011 @ 05:26:09
Hello, I’m from Australia and I’ve been quietly following you for a few months now. I regularly read your posts and loved the post which was called something like, “What possessed me to buy this lipstick?” That made me muse about some of my own questionable choices still lurking in my collection and I was considering doing a similar post. I haven’t so far but if you don’t mind…?
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:07:27
Hi Vita – I don’t mind! Send me a link when you do so I can come and read.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 05:32:27
Hi Michelle,
I have really enjoyed your blog these last few months, and your refreshing style.
I do not comment, true, but am so happy to follow you. I really wish there were some greek blogs (my country) that I could follow, too.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:08:26
Hi Marianthi – thank you! And you should check out Tina’s blog: http://allthevanity.blogspot.com/
Nov 17, 2011 @ 06:10:06
Hello Michele,
I have been subscribed to receive your new posts to email for quite some time now, but don’t share my thoughts in comments so often. I like your blog a **lot** and I am a lipstick mama too O_o
I currently follow you from Spain.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:09:08
Hi Alina, Nice to meet a fellow Lipstick mama! I would love to visit Spain someday. Thank you for your support!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 06:25:53
Hi Michelle! I’ve been reading your blog for some time now, it was one of the blogs that inspired me to start writing my own over a year ago
I visit your blog everytime you have a new post but I rarely leave comments, I know I should comment more often. I just want you to know that I really enjoy your blog and your personal style of writing. I can really see that you are passionate about what you do and I admire you, you’re a busy woman with a full-time job and a family and you still find time for blogging
Here’s the link to my blog http://blushoverdone.blogspot.com/
I write reviews and rave about blushes
Take care!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:10:15
Thank you so much!!! Your comments mean so much — it really does. I am coming to visit your blog very soon. I too love a good blush..or two..or three…
Nov 17, 2011 @ 07:22:12
Hi there – I actually just happily found your blog today – I’ll definitely keep reading. I’d love if you’d visit mine – it’s brand new, so a work in progress, I’d love an experienced blogger’s opinion! Have a great day:)
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:17:30
Today! Well, hello! I’m totally coming to pay a visit. So glad to ‘meet’ you
Nov 17, 2011 @ 08:15:43
Well, you know me
I feel ashamed that I haven’t commented frequently in a while, but with work and life, although I still read every post, I find it hard to comment on the abnormous amount of blogs that I follow
I do have some new faves that I want to share though: Skinceuticals Blemish+Age Defence serum, which is basically a serum that has a potent anti-aging factor combined with super effective skin perfector ingredients, and the Italian brand Madina Milano, especially their Photoconcealer (photoshop effect-concealer) and Crystal Glass (a gel-like compact “powder” that erases enlarged pores and imperfections while keeping your make-up on and mat all day!)…they have an online store and ship all over the world, check them out!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:16:55
Yes I know you very well my friend
I totally understand – I do the same with your posts. That Chrystal Glass product sounds neat! I might have to check it out
Nov 17, 2011 @ 08:51:23
I’m mostly a lurker but I enjoy your posts. Thanks to you I have ventured into bright lipstick territory and quite enjoying it. For some reason, I’ve always stuck with neutrals even though I have asked MUA at MAC for recommendations. I am a fan of MAC makeup, and slowly venturing into other brands.
Have a great day!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:15:41
Hi Alicia, nothing wrong with lurking. I do it alot myself. I am so happy to hear I’ve played a role in your venture into bright lips
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 11:41:00
Great idea for encouraging ppl like me to comment! I love your blog and your candid reviews on beauty products. Like yourself, I’m a fellow Kit blogger and I’m also working on my own skincare line, which I’m soo excited about! Love to stay connected … xo
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:14:49
Hi Connie! I’ve been reading your posts too — not good at commenting. Skincare eh? How amazing! Please keep me posted!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 12:32:02
Hi Michelle!
I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time now, but don’t often leave comments – it’s a busy life! LOL I’m OLD, and have toyed with the idea of writing a makeup blog for those of us who have to work a little harder to look ‘fresh’. I, too, love lipstick, and probably own more than two hundred colors….ridiculous, but, dang, I just can’t seem to control myself when it comes to the lovely stuff. One of my favorite products in that category right now is the Tarte Lipsurgence sticks. I adore the mintiness of them, and there are some lovely coral-ish shades to flatter my warm complexion. I am a real sucker for Buxom glosses as well, but they like to travel into the nasty lip ‘canyons’ I have, so when I wear them, I need to really work the Benefit D’Finer D’Liner.
Keep up the good work – your blog is very ‘real’.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:13:59
Hi Janet, Thank you so much! I’m getting up there as well in terms of age (hitting a milestone birthday in January — still debating if I will reveal my age. LOL). I would LOVE to see your collection pic.
I haven’t tried the Tarte sticks. Sounds great!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 13:36:17
Hi, I just found your blog last week, but now you’re bookmarked and I will check it regularly! I’m in Toronto, love makeup but am on a low buy until my hubby finds some regular work. I am Asian and would like some ideas on how to do eye makeup for eyelids that don’t have a crease.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:11:59
Hello Ada! A fellow Torontonian! I have made a note about your request and see what I can do
Nov 17, 2011 @ 13:53:40
I found your blog a couple of months ago, and enjoy your clear and informative writing. I’m still searching for the perfect nude lip gloss.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:11:20
Hi Joy, Thank you! Ah the elusive nude lip gloss. I know the feeling. I’ll dig through mine and see if I can suggest some
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:00:29
Hi dear, we know each other on twitter. Love your blog! It’s such a good idea to do a “say hello” kind of post.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:10:43
Hi dear. I love your blog too
Thanks for saying hello!
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:11:42
*waves*
this is a great post michelle – you have heaps of readers from many corners of the beauty globe =)
current fav beauty product is .. my new sigma synthetic kit set (8 brushes) – the small brushes are a dream to apply concealer / cream shadow.
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:18:34
*waves* back. Hi Faye! I feel so fortunate. This is what inspires me. So cool to be connected like this isn’t it?
Nov 17, 2011 @ 22:58:34
Hello, Michelle!
I’ve commented a few times on your blog, but it’s been months since the last time. I’m really enjoying Clinique lipsticks at the moment. The best part is they were all given to me from other people’s gifts with purchase, so I didn’t have to buy them. This was a great post idea, by the way. x
Nov 21, 2011 @ 19:42:17
Hi Esther! Thank you! I have a Clinique post coming up this week.
Nov 18, 2011 @ 13:19:32
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for specifically asking the “shy” people to respond. I generally don’t raise my hand in class unless I’m called upon by the teacher.
Well, I stumbled unto your site because I was looking for a blog devoted to lipsticks, especially the deep, vibrant, velvety wine/burgundy/magenta colors, that makes you look instantly glamorous. I’m referring to colors like Nars Scarlett Empress or Tom Black Orchid. I appreciate the artistry of makeup and how it transforms other people. For myself though, I would only wear moisturizer and lipstick. I gravitate towards styles that are simple and chic like Movado watch, plus in my case, I don’t have to worry about taking lipstick off with makeup remover because it fades itself naturally.
Anyhow, I love your swatches and your humor in your blogs. Keep up the great work!
Nov 21, 2011 @ 19:41:41
Hi Donna, so glad you left me a message! I appreciate all the support.
Nov 18, 2011 @ 19:11:34
I have been reading your blog for a few months now, think I found it through another blog. But I love your posts, some blogs I don’t read most of what they post but I find myself reading most if not all of yours.
I’ve commented a few times, I think feedback is always nice. I have a blog too: http://chrystynsview.blogspot.com/
I am a random person, I love make up but I find myself talking about whatever is going on in my life especially being an army wife.
Neways, keep up the good work:-)
Nov 21, 2011 @ 19:40:53
Thank you Kris! I will check your site out. I appreciate all your support
Nov 19, 2011 @ 11:04:29
What an awesome idea!!! I absolutely love this! I know you have visited my blog before, but I absolutely LOVE dill pickle chips… haha, and obsessed with Gingerbread lattes at Starbucks when they are available during the holiday season!
~
Nov 21, 2011 @ 19:39:52
Hey Melanie! Yes – was just on your site the other day
Nov 21, 2011 @ 13:29:36
I too mainly read this on my iPod. What a lovely opportunity to get acquainted with some our fellow readers! BTW, @catherine, I work a couple of blocks from the Perhfume Shoppe and bring friends with perfume needs there all the time.
Michelle, how about the occasional poll/question of the week? Even basic debastes like the eternal lipstick vs gloss, or best neutrals (I am still searching for one to not make me look like I’m in the hospital)..,
Nov 21, 2011 @ 19:40:20
Hi Annie! I used to do polls — I will do it again – thanks for the suggestion
Nov 27, 2011 @ 20:28:04
Hi! I missed this post so I’m commenting now. I discovered your blog pretty recently, maybe a couple of months ago?
I’m a big lipstick fan, but like to keep my makeup collection at least somewhat small/controlled; right now I think I have around 15-20 lipsticks. That said, there was a time in my life when I owned a lot more makeup than I do now. I’ve evolved from being a hoarder to being someone who prefers a relatively small collection of uber-flattering things (that’s true with my clothes too.) I choose my makeup very carefully and care a lot about quality.
Really enjoy your posts!
