Keep Calm and Blog On…So Let’s Talk about Lipstick!
I want to thank everyone who sent me such kind and supportive words over the past day. You helped put things in perspective, and I can now push this craziness behind me and look ahead. As Fee said yesterday, it’s time to keep calm and blog on. And what better time than to start right now! Let’s talk about lipstick, shall we?
I’ve been thinking about whether it’s possible to choose my favorite lipsticks of all time. Seems like an impossible task for someone like me (after all, mama loves them all!) but I’ll give it a shot by starting with three this week: Maybelline ColorSensational in Plumshine, YSL Rouge Volupte #9, and Estee Lauder Crystal Baby. Sound familiar? I’ve featured each of them before. I love how each of these evokes a different feeling and mood.
I’ve been reaching for Maybelline Plumshine quite a bit recently. To me, it’s the perfect summer/fall transitional colour. In the tube, it is a deep reddish plum with hints of shimmer. On the lips, it lends more red with shimmer on me. It’s not dark or vampy so it’s a great option for those who might be hesitant to try a bright colour. To me it equals sophistication!
Next is YSL Rouge Volupte #9, a bright, blue-based fuchsia pink. I’ve had this lipstick for a while and have written about it a few times. It is pure luxury in a tube, and the colour gives me a pop of colour that truly makes a statement.
Finally, Estee Lauder Crystal Baby, my newest baby. I wrote about it last week, and the love-fest continues. It is a perfect everyday nude for me. My picture below isn’t the best – - can’t seem to get the lighting and picture quality just right with this colour. But trust me, if you’re fair or have similar colouring as me, this is a lipstick that is worth investigating.
That’s it for tonight. It’s hard to believe it’s September. Where did the summer go?

Oh! I really need that Plumshine! Super pretty.
I think we all need a t-shirt that says “Keep Calm and Blog On.” Otherwise this beauty blogging thing would drive us all bananas!

Plumshine is a ‘looks good on us’ colour! LOL. I am totally going to investigate the T-shirt. Get Lippie sent me a Twitpic of a coaster at a pub that had the saying on it. I want it! LOL.

Michelle, proud of you for keeping such a positive attitude regarding your last post. Remember that for every minute we spend worrying about the negative it takes away from the time that we can focus on the positive. And don’t forget that your faithful readers always have your back. Always.
So, back to business- Love your pics, especially the YSL shade. You’re right, it is luxury in a tube, expensive as heck but totally worth every penny.
Thanks so much for the post!

Loving the Maybelline Plumshine on you, Michelle! Despite being a fraction the cost of the others, it’s my favourite. The color really complements your complexion.
Sep 02, 2011 @ 14:33:45
So true! I love the ColorSensational line.
Sep 02, 2011 @ 06:35:39

Sep 02, 2011 @ 14:34:55
Hey Faye – narrowed it down to three..for this week! There’s more next week! #9 is one of my go-to pinks
Sep 02, 2011 @ 14:19:19
oooh, I love the YSL, so good on you. been meaning to try out the Rouge Volupte for awhile… how do you find it wears? is it drying at all?
Sep 02, 2011 @ 14:36:15
Not drying at all! Very luxurious. Wait till you see the Fall colours I’m posting about this weekend.
Sep 02, 2011 @ 15:09:50
ALL of these look fantastic on you. I can see why you’d find it hard to choose one favourite as they each express a different mood. Beautiful, you definitely know how to rock a lipstick

I’ve only just caught up on your blog posts today after a few days without the net so sorry for commenting on stuff you’ve already moved on from but I can’t believe there are people out there ridiculous enough to think that such a generic post as ‘what’s in your post’ deserves to be credited to a particular blogger!
The nature of beauty blogging is that we all write about the same stuff but the difference is the way we approach what we’re writing about. You’re such a considerate blogger and it sucks that someone would ever make you feel bad about something that involves no wrong doing on your part.
Anyway sorry for the long comment but I’m glad you’ve decided to keep calm and blog on because I always look forward to your posts. Also I love the three lippies you featured although I could narrow my faves down to three
Sep 02, 2011 @ 23:18:26
LOL I just realised I wrote ‘what’s in your post’ instead of ‘what’s in your bag’ and at the end of my above comment I meant to write that I could *never* narrow down my fave lippie’s to three. I should really start checking comments before posting them
Sep 02, 2011 @ 23:20:57
Ahalya, no worries — I knew what you meant
thanks for the support!!!

That Plumshine looks great on you. I might have to pick that one up for myself next time I’m shopping for something new. I love those types of colors.
Surprisingly, it’s not difficult at all for me to pick one favorite lipstick. Clinique Bamboo Pink has been my favorite for years. I’ve used many, many lipsticks but I always come back to that one.

The plumshine looks gorgeous on u! thank u for the review
I’m def. gonna try it!
