Illamasqua Body Electrics Review & Swatches: I love Surprises That Come in Big Blue Boxes!

After a long day at work, I came home to see a rather large box waiting on my doorstep. Could it be a tech gadget for my husband? Or *gasp* makeup for me? I was ecstatic to see it was makeup for me! What intrigued me the most was that it was from the UK via Royal Mail and I wasn’t expecting anything from overseas.

Inside the cardboard box was a big Tiffany’s-coloured box (LOVE!) containing products from Illamasqua’s latest collection, Body Electrics. I had seen many a beauty blogger in the UK and Europe get these boxes over the past month or so and never thought I would get one too. Inside was a bronzer in Writhe, a Powdered Metal in Ezrule, and a super big and super soft kabuki brush.

I immediately became a swatching machine. I’m adoring bronzers right now especially with the warmer weather and these products definitely ‘spoke’ to me.

Writhe is a beautiful bronzer unlike anything I own. It is golden with a definite reddish undertone. The texture is fantastic — very smooth and blendable. It is very pigmented. It is also shimmery without being glittery which makes it day or office appropriate.

Writhe Bronzer from Illamasqua. Here I swatched on my cheeks to show you the kind of glow you can achieve with this bronzer. I would buff it in more in real life but wanted to be able to show on camera.

Ezrule is one of Illamasqua’s Powdered Metals. Again, I have nothing in my collection that is like this. Ezrule is a golden bronze with brown undertones. It is apparently designed for olive and darker skin tones but I think with a light hand and if it’s buffed in, anyone can use it. With the brown undertones, you won’t look orange with this product — a good thing, no? The powdered metals can be used like a traditional bronzer or even buffed onto the body or the hair. Visit Illamasqua’s blog for inspiration on how to use this product.
The Kabuki brush that came in the package is very soft and feels luxurious on the skin. It’s perfect for buffing in the Powdered Metal and Bronzer. Love it.
Check out Illamasqua’s Web site for more information on the company and its cool products. I’m a big fan of the powder and cream blushes as you know.

Thanks Illamasqua for thinking of this Canadian blogger!!

NOTE: Canadian girls, you can order products from the Illamasqua web site — I did before and the experience was overall positive if you don’t mind paying the shipping fees. Ilamasqua is available at Sephora in the U.S. (lucky girls!). However, Canadians can’t order the products from Sephora online yet. Hopefully someday!
