Limbo time: NARS Botan Brush
Each time I do my makeup I see products or tools I know I should use but somehow never reach for. These products are, in a way, in Makeup Limbo. It is the place where things that once ‘rocked my world’ seem to hang in limbo waiting to be shown some love. Take for example, NARS’ Botan Brush, a lovely specimen, don’t you think? It is meant to be used to buff, and polish face powders. Mr. Botan, as I like to call it, is of excellent quality with dense bristles. This brush feels amazing on the face, super soft. It is a very big brush. No joke. MAC kabuki brushes are mini compared to this brush.
Mr. Botan brush entered my life after a NARS event early 2009 when the makeup artist used it on my face, showed me the results and then said, ‘and it’s selling out all the time because Oprah loves it.’ I am not one to buy a product because of Oprah at all but for some reason that day, I fell for it. It is expensive and I remember major buyer’s remorse for weeks after I bought it. I religiously used it every day to gently buff my powder in. After all, I wanted to get my money’s worth.
Today, Mr. Botan brush sits in my collection collecting dust. I’m not sure why I don’t reach for it very often as it is hard to miss. I better start using him again or he might end up in my makeup graveyard. I don’t think Oprah would approve.
Do you have anything in your collection that sits in limbo?

I have all kinds of things in limbo.. its hard when you have your regulars that you reach for I feel like everything else gets forgotten.
I guess this is where a blog sale comes in handy huh lol

Dare I ask, what was the price for Mr.Botan?? He does look fabulous though..looks divine for applying bronzer to the neck and chest area.

@Farah: I'm too lazy to do a blog sale. LOL. But I don't think I could ever part with Mr. Botan.
@Dye-A-Graham: $75!! eeek. But I did get him with a sephora 20% off…but still! too much I think in retrospect.

"Today, Mr. Botan brush sits in my collection collecting dust". You are sooo funny….lol… And, if it helps you, I could count on one hand the times I've used my MAC kabuki one that I have for a few months. Don't know what happens, I simply ignore it. But you know what? It is a matter of creating a new habbit
)) (Well, at least I hope so)

This post made me smile.
Unfortunately, I know all too well about products in makeup limbo.. I have dozens of products sitting on my vanity that haven't been used in awhile. That brush looks fabulous though, but the price… eesshh. I'm already trying to avoid placing an order for the Sigma brush set, but it's so tempting.

LOL. Yes, I definitely have lots of products that sit in limbo, the same kind of things that either I bought that was expensive or that someone gave to me that I feel like I can't give away or get rid of yet… but just sit there. A few eyeshadow palettes, and I have this really bad habit of wearing the same blush for about two weeks before I feel bad and give another blush a chance lol.

Still, maybe one day…
