It’s all Routine

I have a routine when it comes to putting on my makeup. It’s almost automatic in terms of how I do it. First, I moisturize and then apply my foundation. I then work my way down my face starting from my eyes. The ‘finale’ is the lipstick and gloss.

I don’t usually stray from this routine at all. I only got to thinking about it because yesterday, I applied blush before my eye makeup. I felt out of sorts when I did that and didn’t feel the groove afterwards. Never mess with a good routine right?

And in terms of deciding on a look, I tend to choose my colours for the day ahead of time. I base it on what I think I’ll be wearing — and I grab all the products I need before getting started. There was a time when I would just start picking out products randomly and seeing what I come up with. Some days I do that still but with limited time in the morning, I’ve become a plan-ahead person. Boring? Maybe. But it’s working for me so I think I’ll stick to it.
How about you? Do you have a routine when it comes to makeup application? Do you plan out your looks ahead of time or go with the flow?
That’s my Monday rambling. How was your weekend? I had a fantastic time — Valentine’s dinner with the Husband on Friday night, and hung out with the family the rest of the long weekend including visits to the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls, and then the Royal Ontario Museum.
