Drugstore lippie love: Rimmel’s Airy Fairy and Maybelline’s Blushing Brunette
Call me a lipstick snob but I admit I gravitate to higher end/department store lipsticks. But recently, I have found some real gems at the drugstore from Rimmel and Maybelline.
From Rimmel, there’s the infamous Airy Fairy, a pretty light pink. I love the pigmentation of this lipstick and its smooth application. I hate the bubblegum smell though. Rimmel, if you are reading, please remove the scent from your lipsticks. Not needed for a scent with such a lovely product.
Next is Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Blushing Brunette. I adore these lipsticks from Maybelline and want to add more to my collection. The colour selection is fantastic and so is the price which is under $10 Canadian. They are pigmented and smooth to apply. I would say they are a bit dry on the lips so I do tend to add gloss on top. This colour is one of three that I own and it’s by far my favorite. I just slap on this puppy and I’m good to go on those days where I don’t wear much makeup. When I wear this it adds instant brightness to my face.
How about you? How do you feel about drugstore lippies? Yay or Nay? And which ones are you favorites?
NOTE: In case any of you are wondering, I’m still doing my 50 day lipstick challenge. I have failed at taking photos every day. Sigh. Such is life. It’s been great rediscovering old favorites and coming to realize I have a few duds as well. Will do a round-up…someday!

I love the Maybelline Colour sensation line. I tend to lean towards drugstore brands to begin with. I'm definitely going to grab Airy Fairy now too!

Both look great on you! I love how Maybelline have improved and expanded there line…unfortunately I'm still looking out for the latest offerings and I can't wait till they get here! And Rimmel has always been a favourite of mine concerning lip products and mascaras =)

Both lipsticks look nice on you! Great everyday shades. I have both lippies and like them both. Right now I'm loving Rimmel's new Moisture Renew lippies–they have spf 18 and are very moisturizing.

ooh, I keep picking up airy fairy and then putting it down again. I think I'll go pick one up (for real this time).

I'm a bit of a high end snob when it comes to all makeup even though I have some real drugstore gems. I think… it's because I appreciate quality over quantity and I'm especially particular about my lipstick formulas since my lips are so dry and sensitive. It's not that high end ones are better necessarily, but that my two favorite formulas happen to be high end (and thus I have 6 Laura Mercier stickglosses and 2 Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimiteds).
I do actually have a few drugstore gems though. I have two of the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipsticks, which are actually surprisingly long-lasting and non-drying. I have them in colors I only wear very rarely and couldn't find a high end counterpart to. I also have a NYX round lipstick, and even though I don't really like the formula and never wear it for this reason, I positively adore the color (it's Apollo which is a shimmery copper). I'm keeping it until I find a dupe in a better formula. And probably the best gem of all – the Covergirl Trushines. The formula on these is AMAZING. Sadly I only have one (Raspberry Shine) as I discovered them when they were being clearanced and discontinued but I got 3 for a bestie who's just starting her lipstick collection. For the $3.50 I paid for them, they're absolutely incredible. They're a little waxier and not quite as nice as the Laura Mercier stickglosses, but almost!! And for about a third the price normally. I really hope CG brings them back!
Can't wait to see your Operation Lipstick Love round-up. I'd been wondering what happened to it. =)

i like drugstore lipsticks. the only think is i am not always a fan of the color selection. I am much more overwhelmed when i go to mac and see all the shades they have to offer. i do own 3 revlon lipsticks and do love them! temptalia featured a gorgeous Maybelline Lipstick called caramel kiss that i am lusting over!

I was so surprised when I was at home in the UK that they didn't have airy fairy, or at least, that's not what they call it there. I'm going to have to hunt it down here instead. I'm completely obsessed with those gorgeous light pinky nude lipsticks.

right now I am using (and loving) Maybelline's "born with it" lipstick. Love!

I own Airy Fairy (and prolly 7 others from that line) and I truly love them all!!! Slightly sheer but it's still great!! I own about half and half in lipsticks, half drugstore, half high end, I don't really discriminate, but I can say I really love my high ends! I also own a couple of the Maybelline colorsensational, which I love more than the Rimmels (they are a bit more drying, but they're less sheer)
