I love eyeshadows that can be worn on their own as a wash of colour. Don't get me wrong - I love using crease and highlight colours. But for busy or lazy days, I love working with one eyeshadow, some gel liner and mascara. One colour that works amazingly well for me is a MAC shadow called Jest. It is a peachy pink colour with a hint of shimmer. The finish is Frost but it's not over the top and not inappropriate for a woman in her 30s like me. For my younger readers, you need not fear this one either.
Jest is a beauty on its own but can also be paired with just about anything, from greys to browns. I've worn it with Satin Taupe or Woodwinked and the effect is very pretty. Most of the time though, I usually wear it on its own with winged black liner and mascara -- that's it. An easy sophisticated look.
Here are pics -- it is a lighter in person with a lot of depth to the colour. If you haven't seen it, check it out next time you visit a MAC counter.
Is there a colour that you love to wear on its own?

That really is a pretty colour *adds to list*
Jest looks gorgeous hun! I think this may be my next mac eyeshadow! :)
xox
@Lady Gray @ Dainty: It is a pretty colour -- very versatile.
Oh you are right that is a pretty color!! Yea and using 1 shade for your lid is great for beginners like myself. Some of the multi colored shadow looks sure seem hard to do1!
I love Jest :)
I love all purpose colours like this :)
I always get Juxt and Jest mixed up, based solely on how similar the names are. I actually came to this post expecting to see a green shadow. One day I'll get it right, I swear :P
I have Jest too, and like it alot!! My fave all over color has got to be Paradisco which is one of those love it or hate it shades.
That's pretty. I like All that Glitters for my lazy days. It's nice to use with other colours, but like this one you can get away with just a wash on the lid. I think it's one of those colours that suits everyone aswell. xXx
@GeekyMacBoy: I was the same in the beginning when it came to trying more than one colour. But there's no right or wrong really. Just practice! :-)
@Phyrra: thanks! I am sure you look great in this colour!
@Silhoutte: I mix those two shadows up as well. ;-)
@Mocha: Paradisco is really nice too!
@Onyx: I love All that Glitters. Same goes for Naked Lunch. All very versatile
I love jest too! It so versatile :)
I love the look of Jest! It's now on my wishlist. I love wearing Satin Taupe or Vanilla as a stand alone colour on lazy days! :) x
Pretty! For me, MAC Cocomotion (thanks again!!) and UD Underground are my go-to wash colors when I'm rushed to get out the door. =)
this looks so much like my urban decay deluxe shadow in 'scratch' which sadly i am nearly out of- and cant bring myself to rebuy the whole palette just for the one colour. this might just be my saviour!
@tackyblueeyeshadow: I've never tried Satin Taupe on its own -- will have to now! I love Vanilla as well.
@Catherine: so glad you are liking Cocomotion!
@Kerry: this colour is definitely worth a look!
I think I'll have to swatch this next time I'm at a MAC counter ;)
I have so many favourites when it comes to lazy days - MAC Melon pigment, MAC Jete eyeshadow, MAC Subtle pigment & MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow.
I think I have this! but I don't know for sure, which is embarassing! too many shadows hehe.
my colour I love to wear alone is knight divine from MAC. it's my fave e/s ever!
Looks great!
I'll have to check this out.
Thank you, Michelle.
:)
It's really lovely!!!
Must check to add it to my wishlist if it isn't already...lol!
I prefer light shades when I opt for just a wash colour, like a flesh toned one or a peachy toned, they are really flattering (and make my eyes look awake too)!

Jest is one of my "old" faves. I've been using this shade since my teens (so let me count...over 10 years LOL). Like the slight change of your layout, easier to read:)
It`s a nice shadow and I`ve never tried it.
