So what’s on your mind?
What I love about our beauty community is that everyone is so helpful with suggestions and information about anything and everything. So this week, I thought of starting a new series on Lipstick Rules called So What’s On Your Mind. It’s my way of answering some readers’ questions and also hopefully a way to get a discussion going on various topics.
This week, I have three questions from readers.
1) How do I get lipstick to stay on longer? Do I need a lip primer?
My answer? I reapply lipstick throughout the day so I never think about lipstick longevity…but there are a couple of options. You could line your lips with liner and then apply lipstick. Or apply lipstick, blot and then add more. I’ve never used a lip primer myself so I can’t comment on if that works or not. Other suggestions?
2) My eyelashes are always clumpy after I apply my mascara. Any mascara suggestions or is it my technique?
My answer? It could be the mascara brand or formulation. But I’m not sure! Anyone?
3) I’m tired of paying $35 for a concealer and am looking for an effective concealer that is more affordable. Any suggestions?
My answer? MAC concealers are a bit less expensive than $35. I’ve had good luck with Studio Select concealer. As for products available at the drugstore, I’ve only tried the Marcelle concealer palette which works well. This is only available in Canada at the moment. Anyone else have suggestions?
If you have a suggestion for any or all of these questions, comment below please. Look forward to hearing what you have to say!

Nice post!
1. try to conceal your lips, then line them and add lipstick.
2. It is very hard to tell, unless a picture is not sent, and she doesn't name her mascara :S
3. I have never spent a lot on a concealer to be honest. I am now experiencing dark circles though, and I have tried "Hide the Blemish" from Rimmel. Works wonders on dark circles too!

I think the answer to the 2nd question could be a bit different too
.
!!
A great solution for clamped eyelashes is a heated eyelash curler such as panasonic. It really helps with those creepy spider legs

1. Filling in the lips completely with a liner always extends my lipstick or gloss.
2. Some people swear by using a lash comb between mascara coats…I've never done it personally but know a few who are faithful to it.
3. The best concealer I've found is Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind. It's a liquid concealer on one end and a highlighter on the other. It gives great coverage and when set with a powder never creases!
Hope this helps!

Try the Mehron Concealer Ring – it comes in light and medium and consists of 5 colors which you can mix and match. its very affordable too and does not crease. As for Mascara's I think fibre rich glossy mascara's work best as they tend not to get clumpy. A good idea is to check if the consistency of the mascara is glossy or not.
Love this new idea hun

1. I'm no help. lol
2. It also could be old. When my mascaras are at the last few days of their life, or the formula is wrong i use a spoolie brush to separate the clumps
3. idk whether they are looking for a blemish concealer or an undereye concealer but Maybelline's mineral power concealer does a great job at concealing blemishes and evening skin tone. sometimes its all I wear on my face. it could be used under eyes but SET IT! will sink into fine lines and crease.

1. Long lasting lip colours generally tend to really dry your lips out. Perhaps try a lip stain or top your lipstick with a clear coat of gloss?
2. Metal lash comb!Tweezerman makes a really good fold-up one! Also chuck old mascaras as once the formula gets dry, it clumps.
3. NYX makes a surprisingly good one. It's the one in a pot. Also depends if you want a more emolliant one or a more oily skin friendly one. Emolliant one, Bobbi Brown makes a good one!

Hi,
1. – I agree with not using a primer and just going with the re-application tactic! I don't like the thought of a lot of product on my lips!
2. – yeah, might be the mascara, but I like to wiggle the brush sideways as it rolls up my eyelashes, it tends to keep them more seperate. Sort of like the same theory as vibrating mascaras I guess.
3. No idea. I love Bobbi Brown's concealor so not got any other suggestions, sorry!

1. Apply lipstick, then pat with tissue, then reapply, heard it lasts much longer!
2. Try using one with a plastic wand rather than the traditional wand, I find those are much less clumpy!
3. I've had great experience with the Dermablend concealer from Vichy, as it's full coverage and feels very light. It usually goes for 23$ CAD, but sometimes you can catch it on sale for 18$!

2. If you don't want to get a new mascara, I highly suggest a lash comb – I like the Sephora brand duo with a metal lash comb and a brow comb, the metal combs much better than plastic and it folds so you don't ever risk damaging the comb – it'll work wonders on clumps!
That's the only one I can answer, haha
Hope this helped!

I reapply l/s. Don't mind doing this. I love l/s!
Tweezerman folding eyelash comb is the best that I have found. It really combs through each lash.
Folds up small and is easy to pack in my MU pouch for travel.
my favorite concealer: L'Oreal Visible Lift Line Minimizing and Tone Enhancing Concealer. Also has SPF 20. (not vouching that the name does what it claims when it comes to line minimizing but it DOES conceal). It is a bit more opaque than some concealers but doesn't feel heavy or make my face oily. I also like the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer too.

i have a few suggestions for no. 1
firstly using concealer on your lips can help.
secondly both line and fill your lips with a lip liner
thirdly after applying, blotting and reapplying dab a little translucent powder over your lip colour (doesnt work with gloss)
and finally tou could use a lipstick sealant such as lipcote
hope this could help at all
