Does the product live up to the hype? NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

How many of us get serious product lemmings recommended by Lollipop26 and Nikki and Sam of Pixiwoo fame? I raise two hands. I love their taste in makeup and the looks they create. After these influential ladies do their initial reviews and/or tutorials, notice how the products they have talked about/used in the tutorial then make the rounds in the blogsphere and other Youtube video reviews? Sometimes I get skeptical and think, does that product really live up to all that hype?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Well, I'm going to add my two cents to a product I think DOES live up to the hype and that is NARS  Sheer Glow Foundation. I was on the hunt for a new foundation, saw Lollipop26's video and read many many reviews on blogs and on makeupalley. I finally caved in and I must say ladies, the product works wonders for me. The colour I was matched to was Fiji but I could have also gone for Sante Fe. Fiji is a warm beige with yellow undertones. Sante Fe is about half a shade darker with more pink/peach undertones. The MA who matched me said it would 'warm' up my face so I might pick that up later closer to summer when I'm slightly darker.

The foundation itself is so smooth to apply, doesn't feel heavy at all and gives a great finish. You can build coverage so you can be as 'sheer' or as heavy as you want. I apply with my fingers and you really only need a bit (a pea-sized drop) to get great coverage.  I do wish it had a pump dispenser like they do at the counter, and I wish the price point wasn't so steep ($55 Canadian). All in all though, a beautiful foundation that gives a flawless, glowy finish. I give this an A.

What products have lived up to the hype for you?

I"ve been wanting to try NARS Sheer Glow out for a while but that price tag has held me back a bit. I don't even really wear liquid foundation that often, but I think part of that is because I've never found one that I like, usually ones I"ve tried accentuate dry patches, but I hear that's not the case with Sheer Glow. Maybe I'll have to splurge and try this one out.

Thanks for the review as I wanted to try this:) For me I love the Chanel Prolumiere, again a purchase based on the lovely Pixiwoo & Pixi2woo. Maybe in a few months I'll try the Nars, gotta budget.

I really like Nars Sheer Glow foundation but lately I have wondered if it's causing the breakouts I have been getting...not sure...could just be because I'm ill and rundown. Will have to do a control test!Products that have definitely lived up to all the hype are YSL Rouge Voluptes, Nars Albatross and Benefit Boi-ing Concealer. P.S. Get in touch soon, we haven't caught up for a while now xxx

I have to admit, I don't watch many youtube videos. But I've been hearing about this, and I'm curious to see what it's like..

Great post. The product that lives up to the hype for me has to be NARS orgasm blush - utterly divine. Unfortunately I find foundations very difficult to find as very few match my skintone, but will certainly see if NARS sheer glow has one to match.

I tried your tip with the MSF the other day, and I did love the lit from within look you get. Very nice! This product has been on my purchase list for a looong time. I haven't got it because I have half a bottle of Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich which is "okay" but I'm off shopping for January (like a detox!) so no purchasing til Feb, when this will probably find it's way into my shopping basket at sephora!

@So Very Fabulous: I have dry skin and for me, it doesn't accentuate the dry patches -- which is great!

@Monica: I love Prolumiere too! Glad to hear you finally go it as I know you wanted it.

@Liparazzi: I just sent you an email :-) I agree wholeheartedly re: YSL Rouge Voluptes (I want them all!) and NARS Albatross. Haven't tried Bo-ing! but will check it out.

@Shifa: We dont' get No. 7 foundations here but it sounds great. Next on my list to try is Revlon Photoready

@Musicalhouses: I was a Youtube addict before I started blogging ;-)

@Louise: It's so good isn't it?

@Cat: I love NARS Orgasm too.

@ScarlettHolly: Oh so good that you tried the technique and liked it! Makeup shopping bans are hard -- good luck! Let me know how it goes.

@Bargainista: I always feel a bit of regret when I get something this pricey but I do tend to splurge more on foundation versus say an eyeshadow.

I'm really tempted to try this because I'm pretty sure that the shade Siberia would match me and pale foundations are hard to find - but I've read reviews from MUA that it accentuates dry patches (good if it doesn't!) and that it might turn into a mess on oily skin (I'm combination).

I am sadly going to stay away from this one since I was very sensitive to a product with tumeric in it before... but it sounds so lovely! Glad it's working out for you. :D

i love my nars sheer glow <33 ever since this came out i have heard nothing but good things about it! although i am one of those people who like to change their foundation up a bit and usually never repurchase a foundation, this one will probably be in my collection for a long time!

Thanks for this! A makeup artist I met a week ago raved about NARS foundation. I'm still on the search of finding my HG foundation.
