Saturday Haulage: Maybelline Eye Studio and Body Shop
I’m finding it hard to ignore all the great makeup displays for the holiday season and today was no different. In addition, the Body Shop had a Friends & Family sale with 20% off all products, plus an additional 10% off for members. I marched right in with my daughter in tow and picked up the Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel and Body Lotion as well as one of the holiday makeup palettes (#02). I’ve been eyeing this palette for a few weeks as all the colours are right up my alley. It features a peachy pink blush and neutral shadows that are shimmery but not glittery. Isn’t it gorgeous?
The shadows seem very smooth. I can’t wait to give these a whirl. One thing I don’t love is the faux velvet packaging but c’est la vie.
After the Body Shop, we popped into Shopper’s Drug Mart where I saw a new display featuring Maybelline’s Eye Studio line which are mineral based shadows. They had duo shadows similar to the MAC shadows which I hope to try one day. I picked up a mini-sized palette ($9.99) called Give me Gold. They had some other great colour combos in the display including some gorgeous blues. But you know me, I can’t resist these types of colours.
Anyone else have these palettes? Thoughts?
And seriously, how do I stop buying the same colour families over and over?

Ah, you're making me want that Body Shop palette! What a coincidence, though, since I just bookmarked a makeup look using that palette: http://jessicaharlow.com/index.php/2009/10/21/the-body-shop-quick-easy-neutral-smokey-eyes-for-fallwinter/
I haven't seen the Maybelline Eye Studio line in stores yet, but I like how those swatches look! And the shimmery but not glittery part has got me interested. As for the not buying the same color families part…well, I can't help you there "oTL
Love your blog, keep it up!

The Body Shop shop palettes looks so pretty – almost stila-esque

Oh pretty! And LOL… I totally know what you mean. I try to control my impulse buying by asking myself if anyone will be able to tell the difference between shadows on my eyes. It… has worked ok so far? I also just purged a bunch of stuff from my drawer that I felt was too similar or that I just wasn't using enough. I am still not sure I'm going to let go of EVERYTHING quite yet, but it feels good to have less in my drawer and make room for other new things. =)

I love some of the Body Shop stuff. I haven't tried any of their makeup since high school.. I think I'm going to go and check it out during my break from work tomorrow..
BTW, shopping date soon?

Gorgeous hun. I'm also finding it so hard to ignore all the great Christmas deals out there.
Not sure on the buying factor. Eyeshadow wise I'm drawn to every colour but with lipsticks I always seem to want to buy nude colours. My hands always reach for either the soft nudes or the bold reds. I must try to go for more lippie colours.
