I want to love it...Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-in-Place Shadow Cremes

Today I thought I'd share my thoughts on an eye product that is not rocking my world lately. Just a 'meh' product. And that is Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-in-Place Shadow Cremes. These cream shadows serve a similar purpose as MAC's Paint Pots and Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadows.  You can use them alone as shadows or as a base for other shadows. They are long-lasting and do not crease.

So why don't I love them? Perhaps it is the colours that I have. The first I have is Silver Leaf, which is a shimmery grey/silver. It is pretty. But since I have Benefit's Skinny Jeans which is a bit deeper in colour, I rarely reach for Silver Leaf.

Same goes for Ivory Lace, which is a shimmery champagne colour. Somehow this colour doesn't do anything for my eyes. Just mediocre. I much prefer MAC's Bare Study or Rubenesque for a wash of colour. I use Ivory Lace primarily as a base.

And Vintage Violet in the pan looks gorgeous but on my eyes, I always think it makes me look like I have a bruised eyelid. Not a good look for sure. I need to figure out a way to make this usable somehow or swap it.

I am really at a loss as to why I don't reach for these. Maybe I'll have to revisit for the next week or so and test-run them again.

See - they are pretty right? But when I apply them I don't get excited. Not sure why.

Has anyone tried these shadows? Thoughts? Tips on how to make them work for me? Or want to swap for the Vintage Violet?

I agree with you! I am not to pumped about those colors either.

I have these and love them, I have Silver Leaf, Blush and Antique Gold...maybe it's just that the shades don't suit you. It's a shame as I think it's a great product

@tackyblueeyeshadow; I think I'm going to play around with Vintage Violet a bit more to see if I can make it work,

@Liparazzi: I haven't given up on these yet! I used to love Silver Leaf -- maybe it's because I'm so distracted by other things in my collection and haven't given these more of a chance. I do like the creaminess of these. Who knows maybe I will change my mind! ;-)

There's not much depth to the colours, I can imagine them wearing off rather quickly.

@Jen: they actually are very long-lasting and make a good base. It's just the colours don't get me excited right now.

I have both Silver Leaf and Vintage Violet and I adore them! Use them a lot, but I agree Silver Leaf and Skinny Jeans are pretty similar

I think Vintage Violet looks gorgeous! I'm sure you can make it work for you. Keep trying! It looks so promising in the pot and on the swatch! :)

I haven't tried these, but Vintage Violet looks an awful lot like MAC Paint Pot in Nice Vice (from the Fafi collection). I guess since they're both Lauder companies there must be some similarities..
