Tuesday ramble: Why Do We Blog?
Just finished watching “He’s just not that into you.” Great movie I thought. Total chick flick. Before I head to bed, I wanted to post one more thing that ran through my head while watching.
I read a post on Feline Fairy’s blog about why she blogs and it got me thinking.
I’ve been telling people I know about this blog and how exciting it has been for me to see it grow over the past month and a half. What I find hard to describe is why we – the beauty and makeup addicts in the world — are drawn together? What keeps us reading, watching and posting comments? What could we possibly talk about – every day? After all, for many who aren’t into this, it is ‘just makeup.’
I think it goes beyond that. Makeup is just what we like. It’s our common ground.
For me, what I really love is the sense of community I’ve found online. It’s really been an amazing thing to see how one ‘hobby’ can cross international boundaries, age groups and nationalities. The best part for me is getting to know people and having an opportunity to have a short glimpse into their lives – from those who follow me and post comments and those I follow through their blogs and videos.
One other thing, as a mom who also works full time, people are asking me how I find the time to blog. Truthfully, it’s often late at night after everyone’s asleep, on the weekends in between playing with the kids and hanging out with my husband. And yes, I’m often tired.
But I do it. And I love it.
Have a good night everyone!

Good post – I like!I have often wondered the same thing. The only people that know about my blog are my boyfriend and my best mate. I guess I have to get over the embarassment of telling people that I blog, day after day, about…makeup. Maybe I'm worried they will think I'm shallow…but to be honest it's more about creativity to me than it is about vanity. I love painting on canvases AND on my face.

What a lovely post. I have starting telling people about my blogging and people are actually asking me about it, I was a bit shy to say anything at first and I think I still am a bit!
I am a late night blogger, normally my posts don't go up til past midnight and I notice a lot of the blogs I follow do the same. And the thing about making time, well it's a hobby; it's like people who make time to go horse riding, fishing or football – we make time because we want to do it!
Anyway it's nice to read someone's blog who doesn't do it to get free stuff and lots of followers, but simply because they love doing it! xx

Nice post
I find time to blog at work as my job is super boring/quiet at the moment so I may aswell keep busy on something else rather than twiddling my thumbs!
I watched that film on a flight recently and really enjoyed it. xx

Great post! I discovered this world while being pregnant and on bedrest. I was fascinated by the online beauty community. It got me through some very long days and kept my mind off what I was going through personally with my pregnancy.
Blogging is therapy, same thing as keeping a diary I suppose. Keep on blogging

I'm a blogging mommy too. I blog whenever I get a chance. Finding an online beauty community was nirvana for me since most of my friends and family don't understand my fascination with beauty products. It's nice to connect with people out there who salivate over new cosmetic collections and love testing out new products and sharing their findings with other people. I find it theaurapudic(I know I just bombed the spelling of that word LOL!), and am glad that I have followers who are interested in what I have to say. I've learned soo much by reading blogs(and YouTube) that I can't imagine what life was like before…

@mommylovesmakeup and @Mama Mish Mash: so good to see two other mommy beauty bloggers! I agree it is therapeutic and find people who understand us. I never knew this whole community existed until we got rid of cable TV and I started watching Youtube! LOL. thanks so much for subscribing and commenting. I find it amazing that my ramblings get comments now!

Great & thoughtful post! I totally agree with you on the community thing. It's nice to be able to find other ppl with a common interest. In real life, I'm probably the most "beauty obsessed" out of all of my girlfriends – and I'm not even THAT obsessed, lol. So it's great to go online and enjoy other people's beauty-related thoughts, as well as sharing my own.
